Yesterday, in a moment of deep reverie thinking of my dearly departed Auntie Laurette, a Fountain of Joy in her own right, I jumped into this playlist with Jon Hendricks singing his lyrics to Clifford's masterpiece. Everybody sang a beautiful tribute to Clifford Brown. And I realized that my Laurette would have appreciated Stan's lyrical song, and Lou Levy's rock sold swing the most of all these spectacular versions.
Un de mes guitaristes préférés
This is one of those great overlooked hard bop albums of the sixties. There's also a nice version of this tune by Elvin Jones and Richard Davis, with Foster on tenor.
Amazing version!!

This song might have inspired Shakira for her song Hips Don’t Lie.
"Slow traffic to the right, Capital J.A.Z.Z. on KBCA. L.A.!!" Tolly's and/or Chuck's theme song. Can you believe KBCA was a twenty-four (non-stop) Jazz radio station, circa 1960?
This is only Zoot, they didn't record together.
Wes пижон джаза..
I'm really digging the pianist! very tasty playing all round
I've always liked jazz by listening to 89.5, Tulsa University, on Saturday night. Thanks to UA-cam, I can enjoy and explore even more. I can't get enough of Mobley's stuff. Awesome!
Surprising that most people commenting here think that Art Pepper is on this track 😅
They have styrofoam stuck in their ears.
The pretty sound from an great Lester Young!..........✅❎✅
The best track on record❤
Exelent
Excelente me énçañtá
Wow and even more Wow!!! This is such exciting music!!!! I am an old guy of 78 now - I started playing tenor when I was a wet behind the ears 16 year old and ZOOT has always been my tenor sax god!!!!
Amazing track, go on great!!!! One of my favourites.

Killer
There’s not one note of Art Pepper! No Alto, not any typical phrasings
I heard that too. No one seems to notice that here - guess they need to have their ears checked.

Is there anyone out there keeping this style alive…..and touring?

___________________________________________ Once I was young Yesterday, perhaps Danced with Jim and Paul And kissed some other chaps Once I was young But never was naive I thought I had a trick or two Up my imaginary sleeve And now I know I was naive I didn't know what time it was Then I met you Oh, what a lovely time it was How sublime it was too I didn't know what day it was You held my hand Warm like the month of May it was And I'll say it was grand Grand to be alive, to be young To be mad, to be yours alone Grand to see your face, feel your touch Hear your voice say, "I'm all your own" I didn't know what year it was Life was no prize I wanted love and here it was Shining out of your eyes I'm wise and I know what time it is now Grand to be alive, to be young To be mad, to be yours alone Grand to see your face, feel your touch Hear your voice say, "I'm all your own" I didn't know what year it was Life was no prize I wanted love and here it was Shining out of your eyes I'm wise and I know what time it is now =========================
